Spoiler alert: This video is going to make you tear up.
I always talk about feedback and member engagement. I talk about creating feedback campaigns to embrace new members and to re-enroll lapsed members. I talk about creating better feedback mechanisms around learning events and ways to engage students and young professionals.
Today, however, we flip the conversation a bit. Instead of looking to our members for feedback, let's look at our team.
Your team is servicing your members all the time. As a leader in your organization, your job is to make sure they're happy and to learn from them. They have an immense amount of experience and information about your membership to share if you ask the right questions. But keeping them happy means asking them about themselves and their perspectives on your operations as well.
There's another element to employee feedback as well and that's recognition.
Recognition is beyond a doubt the most undervalued and well received employee benefit in every organization. It goes further than gift cards and a bonus. And a pat on the back is often lacking in most associations.
Watch this video of a 9 year old boy with autism named Christian and how he responds to positivity from the local high school football team when they visit him on his birthday.
Can you imagine if we all felt like Christian every now and then at work?
